- Typical backyard with no existing improvements. The deck looks somewhat like a prison of bars and the area is void of creativity.
- Deck design needed enhancement and improvement to coordinate with the landscape design.
- Design incorporated incorporated several concrete slabs installed at angles that were punctuated with a large gray geometric shaped rock.
- Geometric boulders that lend themselves to serving as benches or tables. Inset boulder provide illusion of floating in the concrete.
- A happy marriage of cobblestone that was used to accent the edges of the concrete. Also used as a paving surface to complete overall design concept in the patio.
- Cobbles were pounded level and integrated into the surface. Boulders are often utilized upright to punctuate an area. Shows the back deck remodeling with the new railing design which enhances the area.
- Patio completed with some weeping specimens and flowering hydrangeas accenting the patio.
- The grade to the backyard was negotiated with concrete steps.
- First snowfall on the newly completed project. This patio was sealed with a non-slip sealant.
- Design draft by Susan Murphy-Jones
