BUILDING AN OUTDOOR RETREAT

Redoing, Developing, Connecting

This design is more complex than some because it includes; redoing the existing deck, developing a hot tub area on another platform and then connecting those areas to a lower patio and fireplace destination which would be accessed through the lowest level of the residence. Because of the scope of the project it needed to be phased in over a 2-year period, concentrating on repairing and redoing the upper deck, as well as the installation of the hardscaping out the lowest patio door.

The existing deck surface had started to decay making it unsafe. The railing on that deck also needed replacing. We decided to use two tones of a composite decking as well as a metal and stainless steel cable railing system to modernize and update the total appearance of the deck. What a huge difference that made.

The walk out area was completed with Belgard products for the fireplace/firebox area, walls, columns, and patio. Using coordinating products from one company assure great color coordination, high quality materials, and a unified look. Several types of Belgard paving block were coordinated together to form interest and character throughout the patio and fireplace system. Solid stone steps bring one up from the lowest patio to the future hot tub area. A massive flagstone pathway leads guests around the house to the back-entertainment area.

Outdoor LED lighting accents the residence and the landscaping.

I look forward to completing this project in 2017, and hope to post more pictures at that time.
