Dealing with Rotting Timbers

Replacing a rotten mess!

It was customary about 25+ years ago to use treated timbers for many landscape purposes. Today with the abundance of colored designer concrete blocks using timbers is almost obsolete. However, there is a time and place for everything. Actually when one thinks about how long the timbers lasted, I’d have to admit, it wasn’t a bad choice. But, wood rots and becomes dangerous as both a step material and a retaining solution. Replacing them however can be costly, and most clients suffer a little “sticker shock.”

This past summer I was involved with a front entry project redo where we replaced rotten dangerous timbers with new Belgard concrete products.  The new design accented and modernized the entry! We added a few new plant materials to finish it off. The client was very pleased with the result.
